Provincial-level Innovation Consortiums are collaborative R&D organizations established under the guidance of regional science and technology authorities. Led by industry leaders with strong integration capabilities, they bring together enterprises across the value chain, universities, and research institutes to jointly address critical technologies that constrain industrial development.

These consortiums operate through a structured, mission-driven, and open collaboration model, using major R&D projects as focal points to accelerate both technological breakthroughs and industrial application—enhancing innovation capability and market competitiveness across participating organizations.

The approved consortium is led by Nanyang CIJAN and brings together eight member organizations, including Tsinghua University, Beijing Institute of Technology, and Shanghai Cijan Automobile Suspension Co., Ltd.

Aligned with the global shift toward electrification and intelligent mobility, the consortium will focus on joint R&D in key areas including electronically controlled suspension systems, air suspension systems, fully active suspension, and damping solutions for new energy vehicles. Its objective is to overcome critical barriers in technology development, industrialization, and standardization.

The consortium aims to secure a strategic position in intelligent suspension technologies, accelerate the translation of research outcomes into industrial and standardized applications, and support the transformation of the automotive components sector toward electrified, intelligent, and sustainable development.

CIJAN has long prioritized the development of advanced innovation platforms and has established several high-level R&D infrastructures, including a National Enterprise Technology Center and a Postdoctoral Research Station, forming a robust and comprehensive innovation system.

The approval of the Innovation Consortium will further integrate high-quality technical resources across the industry chain, strengthen collaborative innovation, and significantly enhance CIJAN’s independent R&D capability and core technological competitiveness in intelligent suspension systems.

Looking ahead, CIJAN will fully leverage the consortium platform, continue to increase R&D investment, and use major research projects as catalysts for collaboration. By integrating the technical and pilot-scale resources of consortium members, CIJAN will establish a closed-loop innovation model—industry-driven challenges, joint R&D, and market validation—to accelerate the conversion of technological breakthroughs into real-world industrial value.

By deepening industry–academia–research collaboration, CIJAN aims to drive industrial upgrading, strengthen its brand presence, and help build a leading innovation hub for intelligent suspension technologies—contributing to both regional economic growth and the high-quality development of China’s automotive industry.
