Keynote Insights: Three Trends Shaping the Future of Intelligent Suspension
As a recognized expert in intelligent suspension systems, Dr. Liu Xiang shared forward-looking insights during the technical forum. His keynote outlined three major trends defining the future of the industry, resonating strongly with attendees across the sector.

Intelligent Suspension Becomes Standard Equipment for Mid- to High-End Vehicles
Dr. Liu noted that conventional suspension systems have long struggled to balance ride comfort and handling performance due to structural limitations. High-performance electronically controlled suspension systems overcome this trade-off by sensing road conditions in real time and dynamically adjusting damping parameters, making them increasingly standard on mid- to high-end passenger vehicles.
Breaking Dependence on Imports: Domestic Intelligent Suspension Reaches Global Standards
Addressing the growing demand for advanced intelligence in new energy vehicles, CIJAN has accelerated the development and industrialization of active suspension systems. Dr. Liu revealed that through close collaboration among its five R&D centers in Nanyang, Shanghai, Italy, and Xichuan, CIJAN has achieved full in-house control of core technologies, with system performance on par with international benchmarks—capable of replacing imported solutions.
The Future of Suspension: Smarter, Safer, Lighter, More Personalized
Looking ahead, Dr. Liu outlined four key directions for suspension development:
Intelligence—integrating vehicle sensors and AI algorithms to enable predictive, proactive control;
Safety—real-time monitoring of suspension status to anticipate potential failures;
Lightweighting—applying advanced composite materials to support extended EV range;
Personalization—delivering tailored solutions aligned with different OEM strategies and vehicle segments.
With 74 years of engineering heritage, CIJAN has been strategically advancing in intelligent suspension technologies. The company localized electronically controlled suspension (ADS) in 2020, commissioned its third intelligent manufacturing line in 2024, and achieved provincial certification for its high-performance EC suspension program in 2025. Today, CIJAN supplies leading OEMs such as Stellantis, Renault, and SAIC Volkswagen, with a domestic market share exceeding 21%.
The 32nd SAE-China Annual Congress served not only as a platform to showcase CIJAN’s technological capabilities, but also as a valuable opportunity for industry exchange. Looking ahead, CIJAN will continue to drive innovation in chassis systems through intelligent suspension technologies, working with global partners to support high-quality growth across the automotive industry.
